Temporary provisions allowing campfires in Red Lake
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) and Aviation, Forestry Fire and Emergency Services (AFFES) will be revoking the Restricted Fire Zone (RFZ) at midnight tonight 15 May, 2020.
The Municipality of Red Lake will permit only Camp fires and Commercial fire pots with no permit under the following conditions until Fire Permits are available online at the Municipal website. Fire Permits for all Levels will be available by May 22, 2020. Camp Fires and Commercial Fire Pots as well as all other Level permits will require a permit by May 29, 2020.
Definition;
2.6.1 Campfire burned in a single pile no larger than 0.7 metres by 0.7 metres in diameter by 0.7 metres high; and
2.6.2 Commercial fire pots (ex. Chimineas) no larger than 0.7 metres by 0.7 metres in diameter by 0.7 metres high.
Conditions that will be applied to camp Fires and Commercial Fire Pots;
3.1.5 there shall be no burning if winds exceed fifteen (15) km/hr;
3.1.6 the fire is started not earlier than two (2) hours before sunset;
3.1.7 the fire is extinguished not later than two (2) hours after sunrise the
following day, or earlier;
3.2.2 that all conditions will allow the fire to burn safely from start to
extinguishment;
3.2.3 take all necessary steps to keep the fire under control;
3.2.4 extinguish the fire before quitting/leaving the site;
3.2.5 be present at the site of the fire at all times unless a fire permit specifies
otherwise;
3.2.6 the fire is at least five (5) metres from any forest or woodland; and
3.2.7 the fire is at least three (3) metres from any flammable materials.
No burning of Level 1, 2 or 3 Fire Permits will be allowed without a permit.
Grass burning requires a level 1 permit
Incinerators require a level 2 permit
