Waste Disposal Site
The Red Lake Waste Disposal Site (WDS) is a municipally operated Landfill located on Highway 125 between Red Lake and Balmertown. Various types of refuse are accepted, but some items may require an additional fee in addition to the standard disposal fee.
There is a Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Program on Saturdays to collect household hazardous waste for transport to approved handling facilities.
- Waste Disposal Tickets
- Waste disposal tickets are required to dispose of waste at the Landfill site and are available from the Municipal Office (2 Fifth Street, Balmertown). Waste disposal tickets can also be purchased at the Waste Disposal site, TJ's Kwik Stop, Mitchel's Midtown, Diane's Gas Bar, and Red Lake Community Centre. Other payment options are available to large volume customers. Please contact the Operations Department at 807-727-2597 for information.
- General Waste Disposal
- The Red Lake WDS is equipped with a vehicle scale that is used to determine the weight of refuse being deposited. Tipping fees are charged at $0.10/Kg
- Clean Wood, Metal, E-Waste, Household Hazardous Waste, Brush, Tires, Recyclables
- Accepted free of charge.
Curbside Collection Schedule
August
Curbside collection requires garbage bags be tagged with a valid municipal bag tag. Bag tags are available for sale at the Municipal Office in Balmertown, the Waste Disposal site, TJ's Kwik Stop, Mitchel's Midtown, Diane's Gas Bar, and Red Lake Community Centre. The cost is $20 for a sheet of ten tags.
